Will the video be obtrusive or interfere with my wedding?

This is one of the most common concerns. Too many people have
experienced aggressive and annoying videographers at weddings.  Adventures in
Paradise takes pride in our discreet, helpful and unobtrusive manner. All
aspects of your wedding day are precious and should be enjoyed by you,
your friends and family.

How well do you work with the photographer?

Very well! We work with and coordinate coverage with the photographer.

How long will the finished video be?

Your wedding video should be a pleasure to watch over and over again.
We strive to make your wedding video an artistic production covering all
of the important events. An average video will be 1 to 2 hours in
length.

How long will it take to get my completed video?

Videos are completed within 6 to 8 weeks after the ceremony.

What if I have to cancel?

Your deposit is essentially non-refundable. However, if we are able to
re-book your secured date we will refund your full deposit. Any deposit
not refunded is always available for future credit with us for any
video services.

What about those bright lights?

Adventures in Paradise uses the latest Panasonic & Sony Broadcast
Digital 3CCD cameras in the DV format. These amazing cameras are more light
sensitive than the human eye, thus, in many cases, eliminating the need
for a camera light.  With these cameras we are able to manipulate
ambient and natural light to our advantage, achieving astounding results,
never quite seen before.

Who will be the Videographer at my event?

When you put your trust in Adventures in Paradise to capture your
precious memories, rest assured that the cameraman has more than just
experience. He has a passion for what he is doing and will turn your video
into a work of art. Our reputation has been built around our creativity,
as well as, our great service.

What kind of cameras do you use?

Adventures in Paradise uses the latest Panasonic & Sony Digital 3CCD
cameras in the DV format. These amazing cameras are more light sensitive
than the human eye, thus, in many cases, eliminating the need for a
camera light. Our editing equipment is also digital so the quality is
retained throughout the process. Finally, to keep the images and sound as
pure as possible, you will receive your wedding on DVD. This is a once
in a lifetime event, so do not settle for anything less than the best.

Why should my wedding be videotaped?

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to capture all of your family
and friends together. It is also a once in a lifetime to create and
preserve that special moment of the family history, which can be passed on
throughout the family and passed on from generation to generation.

Why should my wedding be videotaped by professionals?

If you want to get a good quality video, then you must use a
professional, who is experienced in producing wedding videos and use professional
video production and editing equipment. A professionally produced
wedding video ensures the capture of all the sights and sounds of your
wedding day, which is likely to be one of the most important days in your
entire life.

Can a friend or family videotape my wedding?

Yes, but do not expect professional results. Adventures in Paradise
uses professional 3-chip digital broadcast quality cameras, professional
computerized digital editing equipment, professional quality videotapes,
professional microphones (including wireless), and professional tripods
in order to produce broadcast quality videos, of which you'll be proud.
You will receive your wedding on DVD.

How can I spot a professional videotape?

Picture and sound should be crystal clear, and the colors should be
accurate. The titles should look professional and like what you see on TV
and not over done with too many special effects.

How about your prices?

We think our prices are fair and are competitive with most
professionals in our area. Our prices are based on our experience in the video and
wedding field, along with quality of the professional equipment we use.

Do I have a choice of music?

Yes. We accept your music on CD.

What can I do to help my videographer do a good job?

It is very helpful if you give the videographer as many details as
possible of what will be happening at the ceremony and reception. If
anything out of the ordinary will be happening, telling the videographer will
ensure that he is prepared for these important events.

How will I know if a videographer is really a professional?

A professional videographer will have professional equipment and
editing facilities and a professional studio location. He will be able to
talk technical terms intelligently as well as informally for the layman to
understand. If the videographer is a professional, he will be happy to
show you not only a demo tape but an actual edited wedding as well.

Will I have to sign a contract?

Signing a contract/agreement will ensure that what you have booked, the
date you have booked, how many copies you are entitled to etc is all in
writing. It will also ensure that once your wedding date has been
confirmed the videographer can not make another booking for that day.

Should I book the lowest price I get?

If you've only called around and are tempted to take the lowest price,
don't! You really cannot judge a videographers work by price alone
(well you can actually). The quality of the video, talent and creativity of
the videographer are just as important and should be of great
consideration in selecting your videographer. It is very important to see a
sample of the videographer's work and editing style. The value of a good
wedding video is priceless.

Is it important to have a wireless microphone and who will wear it?

Yes. The sound of your vows and speeches is just as important as the
quality of the video. When a wireless mic is used, it is attached to the
Groom's lapel. The result is audio that is not muffled or distant
sounding as it would be if the camera mic was used.

How far in advance should we book your services?

As soon as you can make a decision. It is a first come first serve
basis. Whomever leaves a retainer first will lock that date in on the
calendar. If you are happy with what you've seen, a decision should be made
quickly. Certain times of the year are more popular and book up very
quickly. If a videographer has a good reputation and is good at what he
does, his weekends fill up fast. No booking is confirmed unless the
retainer has been paid and the agreement filled in.

Can we add photos to the video?

The "Photo Montage" is an option and costs $225. It consists of up to
50 photos set to a song of your choice. Typically we suggest 10 or more
of the Bride through her growing up years, 10 or more of the Groom
through his growing up years and at least 10 of the two of you together.
The photos are put in any order you wish and set to a song you choose
with special editing. This segment can be made available to show at the
rehearsal dinner or during pre-dinner drinks before the reception as an
option.

Are there any restrictions at my church?

Most churches have some type of restrictions. It really varies. One
thing you have to remember is that the church is a sanctuary and must be
respected by all, including videographers and photographers. However it
is best to know the rules and regulations ahead of time. A professional
videographer can still produce a good video regardless of the rules.
You should check with your church and minister before the day.

Isn't the quality of work pretty much the same between one videographer
and another?

Definitely not! Equipment is very important and varies from one
videographer to another. However, experience, creativity, talent and technique
are most important when it comes to the production and editing of your
video.

What is the difference between a professionally produced videotape and
one from a home camcorder my Uncle could do?

We're sure your Uncle has good intentions and would be happy to
videotape your wedding, however he probably doesn't have professional
equipment, nor does he have the editing system/experience to add all the
special touches to create a video you will want to watch over and over with
your bridal party and family. Why not let your Uncle enjoy your wedding.

Should I provide a meal for the videographer(s) at the reception?

The wedding day is a long one, and the videographer's job a tough one.
It is a welcome courtesy if you provide a meal for your photographer
and videographer.

At the same time your guests are eating, please provide a meal and
seating for your videographer within the reception room. It's important for
him to have a break and get re-vitalized especially when there are
another 3 or 4 hours to go. Also, ensuring he is seated in the reception
room ensures he is able to quickly capture any special or unplanned
moments.

Is the videographer a member of any associations?

Ed Burke is a member of the Professional Event Videographers
Association Northwest (PEVAN) and the Magnolia Chamber of Commerce. Ed is
constantly striving to improve his knowledge of video production.
